Runners - Volunteers Needed For Beer Experiment

"Life is "trying things to see if they work." - (Ray Bradbury

"All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better." -  Ralph Waldo Emerson

"A fool is a man who never tried an experiment in his life." -  Erasmus Darwin

"When I was in England, I experimented with marijuana a time or two, and I didn't like it and didn't inhale and never tried it again." - Gov. Bill Clinton

With the current hops shortage going on in the United States, my nut job running partner and I decided it was time to step up to our responsibilities as beer drinking American runners and grow some hops on our own.

We're just that noble.

And thirsty.

Shortage of hops equals shortage of beer - this is serious, people!

We've potted the rhizomes.  They will be planted outside in May after they've rooted and then harvested in the fall.

After that the real experiment begins.  The Tarahumara Indians make a corn beer that is laden with protein.

Our goal is to brew a healthy beer much like the beer the extremely healthy Tarahumara Runners drink.

But how will we know if we've succeeded in our goal?

This is where you come in.   Once the beer is ready, we will be needing slightly naive test subjects to try out our (hopefully) healthy beer.

We would like to take a healthy, active person and beer him up pretty good before sending him out onto the open road with a GPS and heart rate monitor strapped to his runners bod and see what he can do.

Note - You will need to sign a waiver before volunteering for this experiment.

Pros - free beer.
Cons - Possible side effects that may include blindness and "manly bedroom problems" from time to time.

Don't be afraid.  Remember the nut job runners creed, "If it ain't crazy, I ain't doing it".

Thanks for helping out.

  2. Thanks for letting us experiment on you. Where would science be without adventurers like you.
