Turkey Trot 2008

Talk about nut jobs, there were 10,200 of them running the 8k Turkey Trot this year. Celebrating it's 113th consecutive year, the Buffalo Turkey Trot is the oldest continuously run footrace in North America.

Buffalo is not known for it's sunny Novembers, so never cancelling a race in 113 years is no small matter! This year the snow was not an issue. Neither was what to wear.
In the 30's with not a snowflake in sight, many people ran in shorts. Others wore more conservative running clothes, like cow outfits and Jake and Elwood Blues suits.

This is one of those events where pretty much anything goes.

Whatever you wear, it is one of the most fun races of the year. It starts at the YMCA on Delaware Avenue and ends at the Convention center in downtown Buffalo where there is free beer and yogurt for all.

If you missed this one, mark your calendar for next Thanksgiving. And don't forget your Buffalo horns!
